LAMKA, June 18: Delhi based organisation, the Delhi Paite Indongta, DPI and Lamka based Environmental Friends today called a press meet at the Saulim Restaurant of New Lamka.
DPI president, Biaklun Soute said the two organisations will be organising a workshop on June 20 and 21, “The Green Workshop and Seminar” at Rayburn College, New Lamka.
Resource persons from Sikkim, Mizoram and the World Wildlife Fund will also present papers on diverse topics during the seminar, he said.
The president said the program is not community oriented and all communities of the area are stakeholders and the DPI is just facilitating the cause while appealing to all to participate irrespective of communities and to support the cause against the environmental degradation.
Participation on the first day of the workshop will be by invitation only, he said and added, the day will be attended by parliamentary secretary Vungzagin Valte as chief guest.
Several imminent persons like Dr Chingnunsiam, Biaklun Soute ,team from Sikkim which is the most successful State in protecting environment in the country, Soumen Deb of WWF, K Vungzamoi ,ex-chief secy of Mizoram Haukhum Hauzel, Khamsuanmung DFO(S) will present papers on topics like Lamka environment hygiene, Hand washing, eco-tourism as a means of mitigating environmental issues, web of life, stable land based farming, new Land Use Policy of Mizoram, green initiative for Lamka, finding a consensus.
The second day will be attended by minister T Phungzathang Tonsing as the chief guest.
