IMPHAL, June 30: A co-educational school for students from class one to five will be set up in the name of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Aimol Tampak. This was stated by Irabot Research and Communication Committee (IRCC) president S Shyamsunder in a press meet in the office of Aimol Tribe’s Union, Manipur at Aimol Tampak which is situated four and half kilometres north of Pallel in Chandel district.

Observing that despite the fact that there is only one government High School in Aimol Tampak which is only 44 kms away from Imphal along the Indo-Burma road many children from the village prefer to attend other schools in very far off places as the school lacks many facilities, he said that this creates many hardships for the students, and their parents and guardians.

“There are eight Junior High Schools under the Autonomous District Council (ADC) but many teachers in these schools choose to remain absent. They hired people by paying some amount of money and allowing them to teach the students by proxy. Due to these reasons, the school going children in Aimol Tampak have to struggle a lot. Consequently, IRCC has been planning to set up a school after considering the plight of the students. The school will be set up before the commencement of the next academic session in 2015,” the IRCC president added.

Requesting AITUM to give some land for setting up the school, the IRCC president assured the villages of Aimol Tampak that if the required land is given as soon as possible, the foundation stone of the school will be laid in no time and the construction of the school’s building will be completed soon without any delay.

The village authorities of Aimol Tampak warmly received the proposals of the IRCC president and expressed their optimism that the newly established school will be able to provide quality education to the students.
