MPCC pays homage to Ngalanzar

IMPHAL, July 13: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee paid homage to the Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (ADC) former vice chairman Ngalanzar Malue, 60, of Nangman who was shot dead at Finch Corner, Ukhrul on June 12 at around 12:00 pm at its office.

After paying his floral tribute to the departed soul, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said: “Such ghastly acts are happening frequently in the hilly areas as well as in the valley too.”

Stating further that as soon as the ministers got the news, they had convened a meeting on Saturday and discussed on how far the people of Manipur and the Government have to tolerate such ghastly acts, the CM said as crimes have increased day by day in the state, taking this matter lightly will seriously affect the State, adding the government will face whatever that comes in its way.

People who committed such crimes will be strictly punished according to the laws of the land, said the CHief Minister.

Speaking to the media, deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that the State government has taken all the appropriate measures.

Replying to the queries by the media whether evidences were found during investigations, deputy CM said that according to police sources, a mobile phone, some documents and a walkie-talkie were discovered.

He pointed out that as such incidents have increase in the State, the government won’t remain a mute spectator anymore.

The State government has been tolerating such incidents so far but now the time has come to act against law breakers so that peace and tranquillity prevail in the State, the deputy CM added.

He later stated that the Central government hasn’t been formally informed about the ghastly incident.

Various members of the MPCC paid their last respects and floral tributes to the late ADC vice chairman in the condolence meeting and people observed a two minutes silence.
