IMPHAL, August 12: The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, JCILPS, has announced that both the Women’s Wing and Students’ Wing of the committee will not take part in the Independence Day as a resentment of the government’s failure of implementing the Inner Line permit system.
This was informed by JCILPS convener Ibotombi Khuman at a press conference in its office today. The JCILPS also warned the government that the Trans Asian Highway and the railway line will be made dysfunctional after its completion if the government fails to implement ILP.
He further stated that amidst the strong steps taken by JCILPS and the locals of the State to control the influx of anonymous migrants in the State, the influx continues and this came to light after the committee received an information today of around 15 non locals entering the State.
The government keeps on neglecting our just demands and has failed to check the influx of non locals because they can easily be made their vote banks after converting making them domiciles of the State, he said.
Moreover, some drivers and handymen bring non locals in their vehicles after receiving some money by turning a blind eye to the issues of the State, he alleged.
Condemning the attitude of the 60 representatives of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for their failure to implement the ILP to control the influx of non locals into the State even though there is already a demographic imbalance in the State, Khuman said there will be no let ups in the measures adopted by the JCILPS until and unless its demands are met.
He also lauded the steps taken by students.
