KANGPOKPI, Aug.2: The voluntary social service conducted by Kangpokpi Youth Union at Community Health Centre, Kangpokpi which is the First Referral Unit (FRU) in Sadar Hills concluded today.
Concerned over the insubstantial and decaying condition of the health centre, the Kangpokpi Youth Union had initiated the voluntary social service since four days back.
Apart from members of various churches particularly the youth fellowship within Kangpokpi, all local civil bodies including the Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization also took part in the social service.
Speaking at the concluding day of the social service Lynd Kipgen, general secretary of the youth union averred that with the humble support and help of all local civil bodies as well as churches members and the denizens of Kangpokpi the Community Health centre at the town has been given a face-lift though it could not be titivate totally through the social service bestowed by the youth union.
He continued that the government and the concerned authority should also take the initiative to help the health centre in serving the people satisfactorily.
He further demanded installing all the required infrastructures as well as adequate doctors at the earliest at the health centre.
Dr Touthang, Medical Officer in-charge of the health centre satisfactorily remarked that Kangpokpi Youth Union has done a noteworthy job for the health centre.
While lauding Kangpokpi Youth Union and all associated with the social service, Dr Touthang asserted that it is the duty of every citizen in their respective settlement that they should give exceptional regard towards the health centre for the welfare of the people and the government and the concerned authority should acknowledge such out of the ordinary service of the people.
In the meantime, Hechon Singson, president of the youth union uttered words of gratitude to all civil bodies, churches and every individual taking part in the social service while urging everyone to render fullest cooperation and support to the youth union in future too.
He also urged the government and the concerned authority to get done the demands of the KYU which includes new building construction of the CHC at the earliest and obsolete and unfashionable infrastructures as well as immediate posting of ample doctors at the centre.
