IMPHAL, Aug 23: Even as water level of Imphal and Nambul rivers have receded below flood level, water levels of Iril, Lilong, Nambol and Thoubal continue to flow above warning level.
According to reports from the flood control room IFCD, the sudden rise in the water level of Iril, Lilong , Nambul and Thoubal was due to heavy rains in catchment areas.
Rainfall has been recorded as Kangpokpi 23 mm, Saikul 27mm and Litan 6mm. On the other hand, the rainfall in Raj Bhawan is recorded as 6.50.
The sources further said that the sudden drop in the level of water of Imphal and Nambul was due to breached in embankment in Kha Sanjenbam, Kha Pukhrambam adding that two gates of the Ithai barrage have been opened.
Till 6pm the water level of the major rivers stands at Minuthong (786.300), Lilong (780.825), Nambul (783.325) and Thoubal (777.775), Iril (784.225), Nambol (773.550).
