IMPHAL, August 30: Unidentified persons shot at the pradhan of Sawombung Gram Panchayat this evening around 7:40 at Yourabung Khunou under Lamlai Police Station of Imphal East Distrist.
The police have identified the pradhan as Sandham Ibomcha Singh, 46 son of (L) S Tamphajao Singh of Yourabung Khunou.
Sources said, Ibomcha was shot at while he was returning home from a shop.
Two unidentified persons brandishing a small arm had laid in wait of him near his residence and when he approached shot at him and fled from the scene.
Ibomcha was hit by a bullet on his cheek and was rushed to the Raj Medicity for treatment.
He is said to be in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, there has been no claim on the attack till the filing of this report.
