IMPHAL, August 14: The PRO, Police Department has stated that an officer from the department had been awarded the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and six other officers/personnel have been awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to a release of the PRO Police, the Presidents Police Medal for Distinguished Service was awarded to dy Commandant, 1st BN. Manipur Rifles Imphal, Moiranthem Mubi Singh and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service was awarded to Havildar, 2nd BN. MR, Kom Nando Karung, Inspector, Imphal West District, Hidangmayum Rameshwar Sharma, Constable, CID (CB), Imphal, Sagolshem Brojendro Singh, 6th India Reserve Battalion, Pangei, Imphal EASt, Mohammad Feroz Khan, Sub Inspector, Reserve Office TO SP, Tamenglong District, Kiangsu Anthony and Havildar, 2nd BN. MR, Acche Kumar Pradhan.
It further stated that two officers will be conferred for the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and another 4 for Police Medal for Meritorious Service at the Independence Day Parade by the Chief Minister, scheduled for August 15 at 1st Batallion, MR Complex.
In tomorrow’s Independence Day function, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service will be given away to police personnel who had been earlier announced as winners. They are, IPS, ADGP (AP/Trg), Manipur Pundi Mallana Goud and MPS the then DSP (Ops), Bishnupur District and (now SDPO Mayang Imphal, Imphal West), Maibam Rameshwar Singh who were also awarded on the occasion of Independence Day, 2013.
Similarly, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service will be given away to IPS, the then DIG (R-I), Manipur (now IGP Zone-II, Manipur), L. Kailun, MPS, the then Additional SP Bishnupur (now SP of Senapati), Ishak Shah, the then Inspector, Imphal West (now Inspector/OC Lilong PS, Thoubal), RK Tejbir Singh and Sub-Inspector, NAB, Manipur, Sarangthem Gopendro Singh were also awarded during Independence Day, 2011, it said.
