Zeliangrong bodies threaten bandh if Ringsanbou’s killers not arrested

IMPHAL, August 10: Several Zeliangrong bodies have set midnight of August 12 as deadline for the law enforcing bodies to arrest the assailants involved in attacking Ringsanbou Newmai a student of the Don Bosco College, Maram.

The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Manipur has said in a press release that the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU) and Zeliangrong Students’ Union Manipur (ZSUM) will call a 24-hour bandh of the national highways if in case the government fail to arrest the assailants within the 48-hour deadline.

It said an FIR was registered on August 4, against Hingba Mathew, a warden of the Josephine Girls Hostel, Maram who is the main accused in the July 28 attack on Ringsanbou Newmai, BA 5th Semester in history (hons) student of the college.

However, no action has been taken up so far by the police against the assailants as per the law of the land, it said. 

The statement said it is disgraceful for the police department that no action has been taken up against the culprit and the FIR has been kept pending even after the identities of the accused assailants are known.
