IMPHAL, Sept 12: The XIX Fresher’s Meet cum Annual get-together Programme of Tribal Student’s Union DM College Arts under the motto “Learn, Unite and Serve” was held today at the multipurpose hall, DMC campus here today.
The function was attended by deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as the chief guest, parliamentary secretary Victor Keishing as the guest of honour and principal, DM College of Arts A Nungshitombi Devi as the president.
While speaking at the function Gaikhangam said that moral education is essential for students, it will guide them to become good citizens of the country. He added that it will also help in bringing about welfare and development in the society.
Gaikhangam lauded the students for organising the get-together, and maintained that organising such kind of event will help in fostering brotherhood among the students of different communities. He said it will moreover rationalise the minds to think beyond their communities.
Gaikhangam also said that the government is united as solid rock on the matter of welfare of the people of the State. He appealed that it is time for the people to unite and create no differences.
Victor Keishing during the function appealed the students to take keen interest in studies so that their knowledge can be shared with people back home in the villages.
