Inculcate a sense of belongingness to State: CM

IMPHAL, October 11: The emotional and territorial integrity of the State should be maintained at all times, State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said before adding that the people should have a sense of belongingness to the State.

He was addressing the golden jubilee celebration of the Ragailong Women`™s Society at the Ragailong village as the chief guest today.

He said the Kambiron railway sub-station which will be the biggest railway sub-station of the State will be named after the great freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang.

He said the government has already taken a decision to this effect.

The Zeliangrong people have a unique way of preserving and upholding their indigenous culture and tradition, he continued.

He said the Zeliangrong people are brave and have produced many martyrs including Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu who has died for the land.

The younger generations need to follow in their footsteps, he continued.

Chief Minister Ibobi also lauded the women`™s society for their selfless efforts for the betterment of the society.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, president of the society, Th Atonna said the society was formed in the year 1963 to work for the development of the society.

She said the women society has been coming to the fore when any unwanted issue erupts and try to safeguard their male.

The society also always tries to provide justice to any issue, she added.

During the time of its formation, Re every member of the society contributed Re 1 per week to collect fund, she said.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi also unveiled a monument stone to commemorate the 50 years of existence, while deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam opened an exhibition stall.

A march past was also conducted as part of the celebration.
