IMPHAL, Oct 22: A five-month old infant was found abandoned in front of the Specialised Adoption Agency, Social Welfare department at Pungreitang, Ukhrul this morning around 7:30.
According to sources in the SAA/ Ukhrul, the infant was found properly wrapped up in clothing.
It is also learnt that staff of the department who found the infant took it to the Jawaharlal Insititute of Medical Sciences for treatment. The infant is presently in the custody of the department.
Meanwhile, the department has also stated that the parents or any other relatives can make claims on the infant within two months and if no claims are raised within the stipulated time, the department will have to take its own course of action.
