IMPHAL, October 7: The Momnu Erik Khombi Lup (MEEKHOL) celebrated its 11 foundation day at Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung today.

Speaking at the function, Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) advisor M Hiramani said though many youths have become rich and successful but lack discipline and they are not aware of their own culture, tradition and customs.

Today`™s youth and the society at large need proper social education, he added.

Hiramani also pointed out the Third Amendment Bill (Shri Govindaji Temple) Bill that was passed on July 25 this year by the government is unconstitutional and unacceptable.

UKAL`™s demand to revoke the Bill is reasonable as it is trying to protect and safeguard the indigenous values of Manipur but the government still remains silent, he said.

He also stated that when the State has its own customs, tradition and culture why we need to imitate foreign culture.

While delivering her keynote address at the function, MEEKHOL general secretary Mutum Nirmala said in ancient times people lived in peace and harmony assisting one another in times of need but not depending on others but today the society is doing just the opposite.

She further said that the infrastructure of educational institutes, roads, bridges, hospital etc have developed but the moral character of the society is degrading day by day.

She further lamented that the main objective of MEEKHOL is to improve morality and discipline in society and consequently bring welfare and peace in the society.

The function was graced by social activist Dr Keisham Bhaigyachandra as the chief guest, Ayangleima Womens Welfare Association president Telem Mikoi Leima as the guest of honour and MEEKHOL president AK Janaki Leima as the president.
