IMPHAL, October 13: The Zeliangrong Students` Union Manipur has warned of various forms of agitations to protest against the lack of proper health care facilities in Tamenlong District, particularly in Tamei and Tousem sub-divisions.

Addressing the media at a press conference held today at its office at Dewlahland, Shangru Gangmei, secretary of ZSUM said that the people of Tamei and Tousem has made repeated appeals to the State government regarding the lack of doctors in the sub-divisions since the month of August this year.

He continued that the appeals have fallen on deaf ears of the government. He said that ZSUM has taken serious note over the death of a pregnant woman, who died on the way to hospital. The woman would not have died had there been doctors present in the said sub-divisions, he added.

Further, he said that ZSUM has decided to take up various actions against the State government`™s failure on health sector, deplorable condition of the roads in Tamenglong District.

Kadizanbou Pamei, chairman of ZSUM, who was also present in the interaction, said till date the government has failed to give any response in spite of several memorandums submitted to the minister and officials concerned on the matter.

He maintained that equal development in the State, as claimed by Chief Minister O Ibobi has remained as lip service only.

During the interaction, ZSUM chairman on a different matter related with its organisational functioning has announced that Majabung Gangmei is no longer related with the organisation, who was earlier deputed as deputy speaker of All Tribal Students`™ Union.
