Clubs bridge gap between people and govt., says Khangabok MLA

IMPHAL, November 4: The 33th foundation day of the Diamond Youth Welfare Association, Sangaiyumpham was observed at its society hall in Sangaiyumpham Pulleipokpi.

Agriculture and Fisheries minister Md Abdul Nasir was the chief guest while Khangabok MLA Okram (O) Landhoni presided over the function. The Pradhan and members of the Sangaiyumpham Gram Panchayat also attended the function as guests of honours.

After office bearers of the association read out its mission statement of the year, gifts were presented to 17 selected senior citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Khangabok MLA Landhoni said a club plays a major role in the development of a locality or village and bridges the gap between people and the government.

Clubs should play a major role in preventing substance abuse in localities and strive to produce outstanding sportspersons by focussing on games and sports, she adds.
