JIRIBAM, November, 12: A six-week EDP on food processing training programme organised by the Jiribam branch office, Chingdongleikai of the Human Resource Development Institute, New Checkon (HRDI) under the NMFP of the State Commerce and Industries department was inaugurated with Jiribam Higher Secondary School principal L Ranjit Kumar Singh as the chief guest.
The welcome and keynote address was given by HRDI, New Checkon secretary Ksh Biren Singh.
In his address, he urged the educated youths to focus on food processing industry in Jiribam and put Manipur in the industry map while lauding the State’s Commerce and Industry department, and the national mission on food processing (NMFP).
Altogether 30 trainees are taking part in the programme.
Speaking as the chief guest, Ranjit Kumar said Jiribam which is placed under the outer parliamentary constituency whereby people can vote but can’t run for election is lacking in many areas due to which the training programme is best suited for the educated unemployed youths who could develop the area and make themselves self employed with the help of this training programme.
Sonapur Gram Panchayat pradhan who presided over the function said we can’t live prosperous lives without the help of industry because we use so many products which are made possible only by industries.
There are so many products which are imported from outside the State but if those products are manufactured here then we need not import those products, he added.
Md Ahamad Ali of the Assistant Employment Office, Jiribam also attended the inaugural of the training programme as the guest of honour.
