IMPHAL, Nov 8: The Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) and Kuki Students’ Organisation, KSO Saikul block has demanded clarification from PHED Kangpokpi executive engineer Ningombam Gambhir Singh concerning a notice issued by him.
The KISG president Thangkam Lupheng said the EE had issued an order which was published in several local dailies stating that 82 villages under Saikul sub-division are ‘unfounded villages’.
However, all the villages are enjoying the government provided benefits and schemes including the MGNREGS, Lupheng continued.
He further set a week’s time for the EE to clarify and conduct a spot inspection of the villages to ascertain the facts.
KSO Saikul block president, Lun Mate who was also present in the press briefing here in Imphal termed the EE’s notice as irresponsible and could create problems between villagers and officials of the department.
The EE should be held responsible for any issue cropping out of the notification, he said.
