IMPHAL, November 11: The counsel of Konthoujam MLA, K Sarat has today prayed the Speaker to dismiss the disqualification case against him filed by MPTCC president Th Shyamkumar for his alleged anti-party activities. The counsel of the MLA has also submitted an application for withdrawing his earlier written reply in the case as his client has to now change counsel. He also requested the Speaker to re-fix the hearing
According to the counsel who spoke with the media this morning after returning from the Tribunal of Speaker, hearing of case Number 7, filed by the President Th Shyamkumar against him was heard from 10:30 am.
Sarat’s counsel said he requested the Speaker to allow his client to withdraw the written statement the MLA filed earlier as some mistakes are now found in the reply.
The Speaker asked the counsel what provision he thinks would permit such a re-submission of reply?
Replying, the counsel mentioned the provision under Rule 1 of civil procedure of court allows such changes.
He asked the Speaker to fix another sitting of the Speaker’s Tribunal on November 20 to discuss the matter, and November 15 for withdrawal of K Sarat petition file for disqualification against Th Shyamkumar President MPTCC.
The November 15 hearing will discuss the matter of withdrawal of the reply to Shyamkumar’s charges and November 20 will discuss re-submit of a fresh petition.
The tribunal hearing was conducted in camera at the office of the Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly New Secretariat Building.
