IMPHAL, November 22: A Thang-ta presentation by artists of the Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Association was the main attraction of the second day cultural presentation programme at the Sangai Festival 2014 main venue today.
The presentation showcased by eight female and nine male artists of the association included Leiteng Jagoi, Ta-Khousarol, Thangjou Hainaba and cutting of cucumber by hoe.
The Myanmar delegation led by Chin State Chief Minister U hong Ngai and including three of his cabinet ministers and a MLA and the other foreign tourists were highly impressed and were seen watching the presentation with much enthusiasm.
The cultural presentation was showcased at the Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre at the main festival venue Hapta Kangjeibung.
Other highlights of the cultural presentation were Thougal Jagoi presented by the Centre for Social & Cultural Development, Manipur, Maring Lhousha Dance by Social Action for Tribal Areas Development, Manipur; cultural items presented by Myanmar troupes, pung cholom by Thoubal District Art & Culture Development Association and Ras Leela by Government Dance College.
State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, PHED, Labour and Employment minister I Hemochandra Singh, MLAs O Landhoni Devi, Dr Ng Bijoy Singh, RK Anand, Th Biswajit Singh attended as special guests.
State officials led by chief secretary PCLawkunga, addl chief secretary O Nabakishore Singh and Manipur State Commission for Women chairperson Dr I Ibetombi Devi also attended the show.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh also presented a shawl and a painting to Chin State Chief Minister U Hong Ngai, his cabinet ministers, MLA and the Myanmar cultural artists at the same time, the main organiser of the festival the Tourism department presented mementos to the special guests in a show of respect.
At the same time, Keishamthong MLA L Ibomcha Singh invited to be special guest of the day failed to turn up even after repeated calls.
