IMPHAL, November 29: The Voice of the Voiceless Women which was jointly formed by Survivors of the conflict widow, domestic violence survivors, Street Vendors women, Drugs and HIV/AIDS Survivors and Crime Against Women today protested against the government demanding justice and freedom from those committing crime.

The women survivors today protested as part of the International Fortnight Observation Protesting Violence against Women, 2014 from November 25 to December 12 at the Manipur Press Club.

Speaking to media persons, Chandrakala Wangkhem, convener, Conflict Widow Forum Manipur said that the women of the State have suffered enough at the hands of men and the government continues to remain silent over the issues.

She said the government has continued to remain oblivious to the shouts for justice.

We are now done demanding for justice as it is already too late, she lamented before adding that what is the use of getting justice when we have already loss hope to live.

It is better for the government to resign if it is only protecting the criminals instead of protecting its citizens, she said.

`We were not born to be killed, raped or murdered,` cried VOTVW member Manbi Ningthoujam.

The women too have full rights and dignity to live freely like the men, she added.

During the protest, the women protestors shouted asking the executives, legislature and judiciary to wake up and look into the reality and also demanding justice and equal power to women like men.
