IMPHAL, December 6: A one-day awareness campaign on Violence Against Women was held at the Little Rose Higher Secondary School today organised by the All Manipur Women`™s Voluntary Association.
AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani Devi said the campaign is being conducted as was resolved in an earlier meeting by the association.
She said the association had earlier decided to organise awareness campaign, poster campaigns, street meetings on the issue.
Today`™s campaign was held in a school to educate the students on the issue of violence against women especially minor girls, she said.
She said the association is also providing all necessary help to victims in getting justice
Kunjarani said the awareness campaign will be conducted in several schools and colleges with the second campaign to be held at KM Blooming School Thoubal on December 8.
Social scientist Dhanabir Laishram spoke on the rapid rise of crime against women in the State and further explained why it is necessary and important for the society to understand the importance of women and respect them.
Students of Class XI and XII attended the awareness programme.
