IMPHAL, December 18: A one-day awareness programme was held at Yairipok Tulihal Amujao Salam Awang Leikai under the Top Chingtha Gram Panchayat to encourage the people under the gram panchayat to get actively engaged in `Gram Seva`.
The event orgnanised by the Manipur State Panchayat Parishad(MSPP), Porompat and sponsored by the State department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj was graced by local leader Md Shiraj as the chief guest. Top Chingtha Gram Panchayat upa-pradhan Miss Sultana attended the awareness programme as the president.
The programme conducted on the theme `To motivate village community for participation in Gram Seva` which is the fourth such awareness programme being held at the GP level in Imphal East district saw the participation of 40 women and men each.
MSPP staff L Birahari and master trainer Santa Hidam Angomcha spoke at length about the significance of Gram Seva in rural development and the measures that can be adopted under it.
Dwelling on the inconveniences faced while organising Gram Seva meetings and participating in those meeetings, the two resource persons also spoke on measures to be adopted under Gram Seva while undertaking projects under MNREGS and laid stress on the importance of forming social audit committees and carrying out social audits.
