IMPHAL, December 15: The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG, charged the State government of faking Kinetic Honda mopeds and an auto rickshaw as trucks which ferried iron bars for the construction of two district sports complex at Kodompokpi and Kakching, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Chaoba claimed during a press meet today.
Speaking to media person at the party Nityaipat Chuthek office today, he said the Congress government has been practicing corruption and malpractices ever since it came to power in the State.
However, the CAG report has flashed its corrupt practices, he continued.
Although the BJP has no MP or MLA in the State, the party will nonetheless send the report to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is himself a crusader against corruption, he said.
He claimed that according to the report, construction of two stadiums was handed over to the Manipur Development Society of which the Chief Minister is the chairman.
Further according to the report, the iron bars were bought from two companies M/s SK Enterprises Guwahati and M/s Northeast Marketing Company, Dimapur for which the MDS paid Rs 274.49 lakhs to the firms which included transportation charges of 33 trucks, Chaoba claimed.
However, unfortunately among the 33 trucks listed for the transportation, there were two Kinetic Honda mopeds, an auto rickshaw and a police 407 Tata, he continued.
Now it has turned out that both the firms cannot be traced and at the same time, the handwriting in the delivery challans from the two firms are the same, he further alleged.
This indicates that the payments for the material had been made on fictitious records leading, he said.
Chaoba also said that the portfolios of Youth Affairs and Sports, Finance, Planning and MDS are with the Chief Minister and as such any developmental work or project to be taken up in the State have been handed over to MDS which has no man-power or expert in any field.
The MDS cannot even prepare its annual balance sheet, he claimed.
Now, the MDS, YAS have become the golden egg laying hen for Chief Minister Ibobi, he claimed before questioning as to what is the necessity of the State PWD if MDS is handed over construction work of all development projects.
