IMPHAL, December 17: State Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh inaugurated the Additional Deputy Commissioner Office Pherzawl, SDO office Parbung, gynecology ward of Parbung CHC and the Thanlong PHC building during a function held at Pherzawl, Tipaimukh sub-division, CHurachandpur district today.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation for the 33/11 KV power sub-station to be constructed at Pherzawl and the Block Institute of Education Training Centre to be set up at Parbung, according to a statement of the Chief Minister`™s secretariat.
Speaking at the occasion, Ibobi said his government has resolved to concentrate more on the health, education and power sectors, it said.
Reiterating a point from yesterday`™s cabinet decision, the Chief Minister said local candidates will be given preferences during appointment of staff nurses.
A State cabinet meeting had yesterday approved appointment of 92 GM (Nurses) for 26 Public Health Centre on contract basis and to give preference to local candidates during the appointment as was announced after the meeting by government spokesperson M Okendro Singh who is also the State Education minister.
According to the statement, the Chief Minister in his speech had also said that the Parbung High School will be made a High School Leaving Certificate Exam centre and that local candidates will be given preferences during appointment especially teachers in the interior villages of the hill districts.
The Chief Minister also asserted that efforts are being made to inaugurate the 132/33 KV sub-station Thanlon, 33/11 KV sub-station Pherzwal and another 33/11 KV sub-station by January 2015, it said.
Speaking on road connectivity, the Chief Minister said the blacktopping of the 185 km long Churachandpur to Parbung stretch of the Tipaimukh Road is almost complete, it said.
Further according to the statement, the Chief Minister also said that construction of a bailey bridge upon the Barak Bridge along the Jiri-Tipaimukh route will be initiated within this working season.
