IMPHAL, Dec 11: The Chief Minister of Manipur, O. Ibobi joined the people of Manipur in paying tribute to the brave Imas of Manipur who fought against the monopolistic of the colonial rule and came to the fore for bringing socio-political reforms in the state.
According to a release of the Secretariat, the Nupi Lal of 1939 was one of the most important movements of the womenfolk of Manipur which has carved a distinct niche in the history of Manipur.
The agitation by the womenfolk alone against the oppressive and monopolistic colonial administration showed how valiant and responsible the Manipuri women are in the society, it said.
The Chief Minister wished for all the people of the state to join hands to work together to fight all evils and vicious crimes in the society, including crime against women and children so that the homage to those brave Imas will be meaningful, it said.
