IMPHAL, Dec 17: Two motorcycle borne miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at the sentry post of the 40 Assam Rifles which is on the northern side of the Lilong Police Station this evening around 7:30.
The sentry post is just about 15 feet on the western side of the National Highway 2, according to police sources.
Police said the two miscreants came riding a motorcycle from the Lilong side and fled from the scene soon after lobbing the grenade. However there were no casualties from the explosion, the police source said.
It is also learnt that the Assam Rifles and the police had tried to track the assailants but without any success till the filling of this report.
It may be mentioned that on October 29, an IED explosion at a paddy field near the AR post had killed a young boy.
