JIRIBAM, December 28: The locals and Club members of Meitie Naha Club, MNC, Ningthembam, Jiribam today halted the road repairing work at Ningthembam, Jiribam along the stretch of Dibong to Jirimukh road.
According to the locals, one Pradip Roy, contractor of PWD Jiribam have tried to complete the black topping work by abandoning a stretch of 300 meters along the said road.
E Sanatomba, secretary of MNC speaking to this reporter said that Dibong to Jiri Mukh road has been in a terrible condition without the black topping for many years. During rainy season, commuters face severe problem as the pots holes almost turn into big pits flooded with water, he added. He said in this regard, the MLA concerned was approached by the locals and work for black topping of the roads was assigned to the said contractor.
He alleged that the contractor has been doing shoddy work by not maintaining the required standard.
He also appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter urgently.
