JNIMS celebrate 7th foundation day

IMPHAL, December 18: The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated its 7th foundation day at its administrative block today.

The observation was attended by its director professor M Shyamo Singh, dean (Academy) JNIMS professor H Lokendro Singh, medical superintendent professor W Gopimohon Singh as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, professor Shyamo said the 5th semester exam of the institute will be conducted in January next year during which a team of the Medical Council of India will come on an inspection visit.

He continued that institute has already opened post graduate courses in Pharmacologist and Bio Chemistry and have already submitted proposals to the higher authorities to open more courses.

There are not many institutes in the country where PG courses are provided and it is a proud moment that JNIMS is today one of the few, he continued.

He further thanked the concerned State department for appointing the required medical officers in the institute.

The director also thanked and commended the staff both the teaching and non-teaching of the institute who have contributed much to the welfare and development of the institute.

As part of the observation, certificates and gifts were also distributed to the position holders of the institute. Two special awards were also handed out during the ceremony.

The M Amutombi Memorial Award donated by the director which included a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation was received by Upasana Rai in the field of Anatomy and the Gangmei Achung Memorial Award donated by Dr Gangmei Angam which included a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation was received by O Monica in the field of Forensic Science.

The annual magazine of the institute `Nongyin` was also released during the function.
