IMPHAL, December 11: The Women Society of Pangal Political Forum, Manipur has observed the 75th Nupilal Memorial Celebration at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today.
The observation was graced by L Ibomcha, MLA of Keishamthong A/C, Leina Sahani of PPF, AR Khan, who is the chief advisor to PPF, Sitara Begum of PPF and S Momon Leima, president of AMTCAL.
In his hey note address, MI Khan said that Manipuri Meitei Pangals have always involved in any issues of the State from the past many years. He pointed out that during Nupi Lal, four Muslim women were also part of the historic event. They were: Sajou Bibi of Khergao Awang Leikai, Shara Bibi of Khergao Sabal Leikai, Tombi Bibi of Keikhu and Garam Bibi of Khergao Awang Leikai, he said.
He lamented that these names are seldom mention in the Nupi Lal observations for so many years. In this connection, he appealed to MLA L Ibomcha to bring up the matter for discussion in the winter session of the State Assembly. He also stressed that to achieve development, all communities should work together sincerely not just by `lip service`™ alone.
In his speech, MLA L Ibomcha assured that he will bring up the matter in the coming Assembly Session regarding the inclusion of four names. He wondered why the names were not included by the State Nupi Lal observation committee for the last many years.
He also highlighted the need to have a written Manipuri Pangal history, especially for the future generations. He appealed to the scholars, particularly Muslim scholars to start serious engagement towards research and documentation works. He lauded the Meitie Pangal women who are hard-working in every aspects of life.
