Speed post letter takes more than 10 months to reach Ukhrul

UKHRUL, December 18: In what appears to be a case of gross negligence on the part of the Indian Postal Services authority, an urgent letter addressed to the deputy commissioner of Ukhrul district took more than 10 months to reach the addressee after it was sent from New Delhi by Speed Post under the Indian Postal Services.

Sources said the said letter dated 28 January, 2014 addressed to Ukhrul DC was written by Director (NE) Govt. of India Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi but it was delivered to the DC Office, Ukhrul only on 2 December 2014 which was after a lapse of ten months.

The letter was sent by Speed Post marked with `Most Immediate` and its RR No. is 347, added the source.
