IMPHAL, December 2: The twin statues of Love, Peace and Fraternity of Rungsung Suisa and Chingshubal Akaba will be unveiled on January 3 in connection with the eighth death anniversary of Meeyamgee Luchingpurel Chingshubam Akaba at his memorial complex in Leimaching Wakha, Imphal East, stated MEELAL vice-president M Naokhamba Meitei in a press meet today.
Talking to media persons in the MEELAL office, he said Luchingpurel Chingshubam Akaba Memorial Award will be jointly conferred on Golmei Makuchu Kabui and Sadokpam Thoungamba Mangang as a part of the death anniversary. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 10 thousand with certificates and mementoes, he added.
Naokhamba said that the award which is being given to encourage the future generation to protect our languages was donated by Padmashri W Gojen.
He appealed the people to attend the death anniversary of the late Chingshubam Akaba at Leimaching Wakha on time.
According to the eighth death anniversary of Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba commemoration committee chairman RV Mingthing, the people of the hills and the valley should not forget the contribution of both Rungsung Suisa and Chingsubam Akaba.
He also said that people should take inspiration from these two leaders who suffered and struggled for the people of the State.
The twin statues represent the close relation between the people in the hills and the valley, he added.
