IMPHAL, December 23: The Joint Committee of Umang Lai, JCUL has decided to temporarily suspend its movement welcoming the Governor`™s decision to withhold the Shri Shri Govindajee Temple (Third amendment) Bill, 2014.
Speaking at a press conference held at their office, convenor of the committee, Moirangthem Naokhomba appealed to the government to withdraw the Bill and in case of failing to do so, the committee will continue once again with its agitation demanding the withdrawal of the Bill.
He further said that the joint committee is an umbrella body of 42 groups striving for the withdrawal of the Shri Shri Govindajee Temple (Third amendment) Bill, 2014.
The committee had earlier decided to boycott the Sangai Festival 2014 but withdrew after the Chief Minister urged the committee during a meeting to wait for the Winter Session of the Assembly.
The Chief Minister had also announced during the 6th Mera Mipham held at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen that the Bill will be certainly discussed, he asserted.
