IMPHAL, Dec 15: A VDF Traffic personnel was killed in a hit and run case involving a four wheeler last night around 9:15 near the Singjamei Parking, while his friend has been seriously injured.
The VDF personnel has been identified as Saikhom Niresh alias Ibomcha Singh, 33, son of (L) S Jiten Singh while his friend has been identified as Saikhom Surchand Singh, 29, son of S Tombi Singh. Both are from Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai.
Niresh is a VDF personnel attached with the Imphal West Traffic Control.
It is learnt that they were returning together after watching a movie when a four-wheeler vehicle which is yet to be identified hit them and fled from the scene.
Surchand is presently admitted at the ICU, Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, while Niresh succumbed around 10:20 last night at the RIMS.
The police have taken up a case and the body has been handed over to family members after post mortem was conducted at the RIMS morgue.
