LAMKA, January 18: Even as a drive to eradicate the spread of rabies infection is in full swing, 5 years and 11 months old Pauzakam has become the latest victim in rabies infection deaths.
Pauzakam, son of S Kaikhup, was a resident of Kashmir Locality of Phailian village in Churachandpur. He was studying at Rostard Memorial high School. If alive he would have been doing his class B this year.
His mother Kim said that the boy was bitten by their own pup on November 14 last.
The boy did not inform his parents. They found out only when the boy started complaining of pain on the area where the dog had bitten.
The boy was then rushed to the District hospital where he was administered medicine but it was too late. He succumbed to his injury at his home at around 6:30 this morning.
Counting this, the dead toll due to dog bite in Churachandpur stands at 12 and hundreds are under observation by the state veterinary services of CCpur.
