IMPHAL, Jan 11: The Public Health Engineering Department, PHED, has notified in a statement that due to storage in power supply at the Porompat Water Supply Plant the areas covered by this plant will face shortages in the water supply as well.
PHED Executive Engineer N Nirmal Kumar Singh informed that it needs 18 hours of uninterrupted power supply at 390 voltage a day to operate the machinery at the Porompat water supply plant. The plant has received only 8 hours of power supply a day since December 1 last year till January 10, he said.
The areas covered by Porompat water supply plant, Khurai Laiwangma Zonal Reservoir, Minuthong Zonal Reservoir and Khurai Sajoi Leikai zonal reservoir that is Maring Lane, Tribal colony, New Checkon, Sanjenthong Officer Colony, Doordarshan Kendra Imphal and JNIMS will face shortage in water supply till the power supply at the plant improves, he informed.
