IMPHAL, January 28: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Imphal West inaugurated a five-day long National Integration Camp at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex today.
The camp is being participated by altogether 250 youth from eight States including Assam, Nagaland, West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Bihar, Haryana and the host State.
Youth Affairs and Sports, director, N Ashok Kumar attended the function as chief guest, zonal director NYKS Imphal zone Sh Sahib Singh as functional president and NSS programme coordinator MU Canchipur Dr Ch Ibohal Singh as the guests of honour.
Ashok Kumar said the 21st century belongs to the youth and the Indian population is dominated by youth population.
He said today`™s youth had high potentials in various fields and now the government`™s main objective is to develop such skills in the youth so that they could take the country towards the path of development.
Those youth representing their States should be proud of themselves, he told the participants and added that the camp will provide them with a platform to showcase their cultures, traditions and at the same time share their thoughts, etc and held in the strengthening the national integration.
NIC is a flagship programme of the Central government and provides the youth of the different States to come together and share ideas and discuss the problems and challenges of the country.
The participants from the different States showcased cultural and folk dances on the first day of the camp today.
