IMPHAL, January 10: The road blockade imposed on the road leading to the Gas Bottling Plant at Awang Sekmai Nongthonband by the local club has been lifted as the government started taking up steps to repair the said road.

The Awang Sekmai Nongthonband club had been imposing the blockade on the said inter village road since January 1.

Club members said that the blockade has been lifted considering the steps taken up by the government as well as considering the hardships faced by the people due to unavailability of domestic gas cylinders.

The blockade will be fully lifted from 6 am of January 11, however if the government or the contractor failed to maintain quality of the road repair work or stop work without explanation, the blockade will be re-imposed, club members said.

The club also appealed to the concerned contractor as well as the government to maintain the quality of the work and also thanked the local people who supported the cause.
