IMPHAL, January 30: The Manipur Loumi Lup today protested against the Narendra Modi led government for promulgating an ordinance to amend the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

Volunteers and members of the organisation today gathered in front of the Irawat Bhawan Complex and later took out a rally towards the Mahatma Gandhi Avenue.

The protestors also burnt copies of the ordinance as a mark of protest.

Speaking on the sideline of the protest, president of the organisation, N Mangi said that the ordinance is in support of corporate houses, land mafias, builders, etc.

He said the organisation is also against the proposal to erect statues of Nathuram Godse who killed Mahatma Gandhi.

Protestors also resorted to sloganeering against the proposal saying that Nathuram Godse is the killer of the father of the nation.

N Mangi further asserted that the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) ordinance 2014 will only benefit the corporate houses.
