IMPHAL, January 15: A havildar of the 5th Manipur Rifles committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifles last evening in Tamenglong district.
The victim identified as Havildar (05946113) of the B Company Loktongbam Hari Singh, 43, son of (L) L Mubi Singh of Keinou Thongkha Mamang Leikai under Nambol Police station was presently posed as a guard of the tunnel number 7 of the ongoing railway project under Nungba Police.
The havildar shot himself with his service sten-gun around 3:40 pm, however, the motive behind his act is not clear as no suicide notes have been left behind, said sources.
While a case has been registered by the police with regards to the incident, the lifeless body of has been handed over to the family after post moretem.
