IMPHAL, January 17: Acting on reliable information about the movement of some UG cadres from Moreh, a combined team of District Police Commando, Thoubal and 20 Assam Rifles conducted frisking and checking of passenger vehicles coming from Moreh towards Imphal along NH 39 at Pallel bazaar near the bridge, said a release of PRO, Police Department.
During the frisking and checking, an active worker of PLA identified as Meitankeishangbam Jiban Singh alias Katungcha alias Abung, 31, son of M Priyokumar Singh of Sabungkhok Makha Leikai, who was travelling on a passenger van bearing registration no MN 07D/1522 was arrested, it said.
On further follow up action, another active worker of PLA identified as Maibam Biren Singh, 56, son of (L) M Tomba Singh of Sabungkhok Makha Leikai was arrested from Moirang Lamkhai on the same day, it said.
Incriminating articles were seized from theory possession. A case has been registered at Kakching police station and investigation is going on, it added.
