IMPHAL, Jan 8: A combined team of the Thoubal district police commando unit and 22 Assam Rifles conducted a search operation on January 6 at Tonsen Lamkhai and arrested an active member of PREPAK identified as Gopal Boddar, 35, son of (L) Raja Ram Boddar of Guwahati Ullubari near ISKCON mandir, said a PRO police statement.
It said a case had been registered at Sugunu Police Station and investigation is goung on.
The same day, on getting information about the movement of some active members of the URF (Lanheiba faction) at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai area, a team of the Imphal West Police Cdo unit conducted search operation and arrested a cadre of the outfit identified as Md Iboton Shah, 47, son of (L) Md helim Shah of Kwakta, Sevla Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur district, it said.
The statement also said that he was arrested in front of Star tailor, Chingmeirong and that incriminating articles along with five demand letters of the outfit were seized from his possession.
A case has been registered at the Lamphel Police and investigation is going on, it said.
