IMPHAL, Jan 19: A seven-year-old boy was injured after being bitten by his own pet dog this evening at Singjamei.
The victim has been identified as Thakhellambam Karnajit, son of T Thoithoi Singh of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai Imphal West district.
The minor boy was reportedly bitten on his face and lips.
He was rushed to RIMS around 4.30 pm and later discharge late in the evening.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the dog was vaccinated with anti rabies vaccine.
When IFP contacted health department and State Health Society-NHM on the measures to be taken if one is bitten by dog, it has been informed that the dog must be kept under quarantine.
If the dog happens to be infected with rabies it will die on the tenth day after having bitten a person.
