IMPHAL, Jan 19: A group of well armed men suspected to be Kuki National Army (KNA) militant allegedly gunned down two persons last evening in Churachandpur district.
According to reports, the incident had taken place around 5.30 pm in the Molnoiphai area which falls under the jurisdiction of Churachandpur Police Station.
It learnt that the militant suspects brought three unarmed individuals to the area and shot dead two of them while freeing the other.
The victims have been identified as Letnunnom Haokip, 28, son of Hemang Haokip of Waken village Saikul Senapati district and Paoneh alias Paneh, 24, son of Jamchon of Gunphaijang village Saikul Sub-division.
Unconfirmed sources said that the slain individuals could be cadres of the KNA (India) faction.
On receiving the report, a team of Churachandpur police rushed to the area and retrieved the bodies late last night around 11. A case has been registered at the concerned police station.
