Public awareness and social empowerment are the key most important features for a smart village, it said.

SAGY was launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan on October 11 with the aim to bring the member of parliament of all the political parties under the same umbrella while taking the responsibility of developing physical and institutional infrastructure in villages and turn them into model villages.

The scheme will have three distinct features which are Demand driven, Inspired by society and People`™s participation, it said.
