KANGPOKPI, Feb 24: The Mao student`™s Union (MSU) has drawn the attention of the concerned department and contractors to execute the black-topping works along the NH-2 especially between Maram and Mao-gate stretch by maintaining the standard quality.

The student body has been campaigning for improvement of the said age old highway.

A statement of the student body has said that NH-2 being a lifeline of the State must be developed and maintained properly by any implementing agency or the Government.

More than 400 to 500 trucks have been passing through this highway on daily basis for which, there is a serious need to develop and maintain this road in a good condition, the student body said.

Seeking the support of the public, the MSU warned that, it will not allow any anti-social element or groups to disturb the ongoing works as it is for betterment of the people of the State.

It may be noted that, after much delay for years due to legal tussle between work agency and State Government, the works has resumed just recently.

Some stretch between Senapati and Maram has been completed fully while the Maram to Mao-gate areas are yet to be completed and also certain areas of Makhan Tabio, Chakumai and Tadubi stretches have been in deplorable condition for many years now.

Civil bodies like SDSA and Maram Students in past instances have also been strongly propagating the maintenance of good quality works and improvement of NH-2.
