IMPHAL February 15: The State Level Lui-Ngai-Ni festival was celebrated today at the Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong under the theme `Sowing the seed of peace and prosperity` organised by the State level Organising Committee Lui-Ngai-Ni 2015.
Speaking to media persons, general secretary Organising Committee Dr Xavier Pamei stated that Lui Ngai Ni- the seed sowing festival was consolidated after a great deal of studies and consultations and was finally christened, `Lui Ngai Ni`™ in the year 1986.
The State government in recognition of the identity and the culture of the festival has declared it a State holiday, while the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has also listed the festival as one of the tourist festival of India.
The celebration was also attended by deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly MK Preshow Shimray, Phungyar (ST) MLA Victor Keishing, Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung.
