Says it condemns Bill that promotes outsiders instead of indigenous population
IMPHAL, March 16: The Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers`™ Bill, 2015 is to promote outsiders in the name of safeguarding the indigenous population.
This was stated by JCILPS in a press release while announcing their further course of action protesting against the move of the government.
JCILPS has instructed the non-Manipuris residing in this State not to open their shops, put a halt on their business activities and to stay indoors starting from this midnight till the midnight of March 17.
It further appealed the people of the State to stage sit-ins in their localities tomorrow and to launch non-cooperation movement to outsiders to protest against the move of the government.
JCILPS in its press release said the objective of the Bill says `A Bill to provide for registration of visitors, tenants and migrant workers for their safety and security and for maintenance of public order in the state of Manipur and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.`
This shows that the objective of the Bill is opposite to safeguarding the indigenous population but to provide protection and promotion to the outsiders.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi led government, by forcefully passing the Bill despite various agitations being launch by JCILPS, has shown that it is trying to remove this community from the surface of the earth, the release said.
JCILPS also demanded resignation of the Chief Minister from his post on moral ground for this act.
JCILPS considers Chief Minister Okram Ibobi as a man who stands against the wishes of the people, intellectuals, academicians and other political parties, it said while adding the CM is acting like a dictator.
JCILPS has also lauded the five MLAs for leaving the House today to opposing the passing of the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers`™ Bill, 2015, terming it against the wishes of the indigenous population and opposite to the demands made by JCILPS.
It has also thanked the voluntary activists, students, womenfolk and others for their role in imposing the general strike today.
Meanwhile, in a separate press release, Life Watch has said that the passing of `The Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers`™ Bill, 2015 is against the wishes of the people and it will support in the further course of action take up by JCIPLS.
Meanwhile, chairman of Indigenous People Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) Sapamcha Jadumani alleged that names of four non-resident employees of a missionary school were included in the electoral roll of Patsoi Assembly Constituency in Imphal West District.
He said this speaking to the media at IPAK office today.
He also announced the names and details of the persons included in the said voter list.
He said they were added under a same house numbers of 173 which was found out to be a fake number.
He appealed the clubs and other organizations to inform them if they find any non residential person included in the voter list.
