IMPHAL, March 30: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border Police Station while searching for contraband Narcotic items came across a huge quantity of banned health hazardous tobacco products today, a police release said.
It said the Food Safety Officers Imphal West was then called by the team to the spot and a combined special drive was conducted with the officers in which banned tobacco, Zarda, Khaini etc. worth approximately Rs. 53,55,214 was seized.
In this connection, four persons have been arrested.
They are identified as Kishore Kumar Prasad, 32,son of Pundev Rai of Joriyahi village, District- Sitamarhi, PS-Bairganiya of Bihar; Krishna Sahu, 27, son of Kedar Sahu of Bikramganj village, District- Rohtash of Bihar, at present Telipati Imphal East.
Jay Ram Prasad, 38, son of Gulab Chand Prasad of Hetanpur village District- Bhojpur, PS-Jagadishpur of Bihar at present Pandon and Ajay Kumar Sah, 30, son of Sarda Sah of Champ village, District-Rohtash, PS-Akorigola of Bihar.
The said items have been seized by the Food safety officers Imphal West for taking further necessary legal action.
