IMPHAL, March 25: A person who was admitted at JNIMS today after he was bitten by a cat had to buy anti-rabies vaccine from his own pocket by spending Rs 330, as there was no stock of the vaccine in the hospital.
The hospital`™s staffs who were administering the vaccine to the said person replying to IFP`™s query said that the vaccine has to be administered in three doses; the price of two doses has to be paid by the person who is to be administered while the first dose has to be administered from the Hospital side.
The staffs said they were instructed to do so by the hospital`™s higher authority.
However, as there is no stock of the vaccine in the Hospital at present, patients has to buy it from their own pocket, they added.
