IMPHAL, March 25: The Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee will launch its agitation from March 31 in all the Assembly constituencies in the State against the Land Accusation Bill passed by the NDA government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
This was stated during the press conference held today at the Congress Bhavan by Dayan Hussain, secretary in charge of North East, All India Youth Congress.
He continued that Narendra Modi promised to the people of the country that he will work for the middle class people and farmers, but in just seven months of power, Modi has turned against the farmer and now has becomes the real enemy of the farmers and the poor.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is more interested in working with corporate houses because he has taken money from them during the election time, he charged.
In order to keep his promises to the corporate houses, Modi is now turning against the poor people and favouring the wealthy, he maintained.
Dayan Hussain mentioned that when the British first passed the Bill in 1884, there was no provision of returning the unused land to the farmers.
However, in the year 2013 Congress Government had made a provision that the unused land (for 5 years) should be return back to the farmers.
According to the current ordinance, the acquired land will not be returned to the farmers and no compensation and no public hearing will be done. So, there is no difference between the British government and the present NDA government, he maintained.
This new ordinance Act will also affect the people of Manipur specially farmers and tribals, and that is the reason why, MPYCC has decided to protest against the Act until the Bill is withdrawn by the Central government, he added.
Asin Hussain, president, MPYCC, appealed to all the people of the State to support and cooperate with MPYCC to revoke the bill as it is for all the poor people of India.
He also said that a memorandum has been submitted to the Imphal West DC today.
